Home Detailing - Part 2

DINING ROOM

  • Take the extra leaf out of table.  We need the room to appear large.
  • Put a nice white table cloth on table.
  • Nice centerpiece arrangement.
  • Clean the chandelier and light fixtures.

THE KITCHEN

  • Clean it from top to bottom.
  • Clean the oven and cooktop until they shine.
  • Clean the refrigerator.
  • Remove the refrigerator magnets and items from the front, top and side.
  • Put small appliances under the cabinets every day.
  • Put away items on the countertops.  Buyers want to see space!
  • Clean the inside of the dishwasher.
  • Clean out the drawers.
  • Remove all trash daily.
  • Open curtains, let the light in!
  • Clean fixtures. Polish the sink.

THE BATHROOMS

  • Clean ceramic tile and grout.
  • Repair loose or cracked tile.
  • Down play dated tile color with white towels, window treatments & rugs.
  • Clean the tub and shower daily. Leave curtains/door open to create depth.
  • Shine all fixtures. Remove stains if possible.
  • Replace rusted sinks. Replace corroded fixtures.
  • Repair leaking faucets and commodes.
  • Remove personal toiletries on display.
  • Glue down loose wall paper.
  • Install a GFCI outlet.
  • Clean hairspray off of perfume bottles, light bulbs, etc.

HALLWAYS

  • Remove most of the family pictures and putty holes and touch-up paint.
BEDROOMS
  • Consider a new, fresh bedspread or comforter.
  • Make the beds every day.  EVERY DAY!
  • Keep headboards free of clutter.
  • Put all toys away.
  • Remove bulky furniture.
  • Remove dark, dated wallpaper. Paint if needed with light, neutral color.
  • Clean out closets.  50% rule. Make them appear very spacious.
  • Keep clothes neat and put away.
  • Organize shoes.
