Home Detailing - Part 1

EXTERIOR

  • New floor mat at entry way.
  • Install new mail box and post if aged.
  • Repaint exterior or trim if needed.
  • Pressure wash home and driveway.
  • Keep front porch clean. Pick up newspapers and flyers.
  • Replace any missing shingles.
  • Clean the gutters.
  • Replace or repair shutters if needed.
  • Clean the shutters.
  • Repair any broken boards on the fence.
  • Remove old, rusted tools, swing sets, lawn furniture.
  • Remove dead trees, shrubs, limbs, flowers, leaves, weeds, debris.
  • Garbage cans need to be stored neatly.
  • Mow and edge the lawn.
  • Add mulch to flower beds.
  • Remove toys and bikes from the yard.
  • Plant fresh growing flowers and plants.
  • Paint, stain or varnish the front door.  Add new hardware. Add a brass kick plate.
  • Oil squeaky doors.
  • Wash the windows and clean the screens.



THE FOYER / ENTRY HALL
  • The foyer creates the desire to see more. Make sure it is clean, no cluttered furniture, light fixtures should sparkle. General area should be inviting.
  • A small entrance table with fresh flowers adds a nice touch.

THE GUEST CLOSET
  • 50% of hanging clothing should be removed.
  • No boxes. No clutter. No items on the floor.
  •  

THE FAMILY ROOM / GREAT ROOM
  • Put away collections, i.e.: figurines and fragile items.
  • Store political, religious, sports and momentous as well as business awards, etc.  Buyers will spend too much time looking at the awards instead of your home.
  • No animal fur rugs.
  • Minimal family photos.
We want to show off how big your room is!
  • Clean out the fireplace.
  • Clean the light fixtures.
